Where everybody starts
Our home break is where we teach and where experienced surfers warm up. Waves are softer than on the reefs and the bottom is mostly sand, so falling is part of the fun. On small days, take a soft-top and practise your pop-up; when the swell is up, the right-hand peak by the river mouth gets surprisingly good.
Book a surf lesson with a local guide as an extra, or just ask at reception in the morning.

How to get there
Walk through the garden gate and turn right along the beach: the peaks are in front of the fishermen's boats, two minutes from your room.
