One of the best rights in the world
Surfers have travelled to Lagundri Bay since the 1970s for this wave. A south-west swell wraps into the bay and peels down the reef as a fast, round, remarkably consistent right with a barrel section that has made the Point famous. Since the 2005 earthquake lifted the reef, the wave breaks faster and hollower than before.
The bay is lined with small surf camps and warungs, and the inside of the bay is a good spot to watch from the shore. If the swell is big, the line-up is crowded with experienced surfers: be patient and safe.

How to get there
A full-day trip: drive south via Gunungsitoli to Teluk Dalam and on to Lagundri Bay (about 4 to 5 hours each way). Most guests join our day trip to Sorake and Bawömataluo or stay a few nights in South Nias. Paddle out from the keyhole at the point.
